My Favorite Albums (Right Now)

These are my favorite albums, in no particular order...

My Winter Storm by Tarja

Tarja used to sing with Nightwish, but has recently gone solo.  She has one of the greatest female voices that I've ever heard.

Beautiful Death by Bella Morte

This is still one of the best albums I've heard in the past 10 years or so.

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys by My Chemical Romace

I was pleasantly surprised by this new album from MCR.  I didn't think it would be possible to live up to The Black Parade, but they did.

Kein Schwein Ruft Mich An by Palast Orchester mit Max Raabe

This is some great 20s/30s era German music.  It's very upbeat and probably humorous (I don't understand German).

King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime by Faith No More

This is one of the most underrated, overlooked albums of the 90s.  This is Faith No More at their best, in my opinion.

The Order of the Reptile by Ego Likeness

I saw Ego Likeness when they opened up for The Cruxshadows.  It's some good, hard-hitting electronic/industrial/dance music.

Fall is (almost) here

Fall 2009

Summer came and went.  It was a mild summer, but I'm happy to feel cooler weather.

Spring is (almost) here

Spring was here for a few days, but the cool, wet weather is returning this week. We planted some veggies in the few spots where we get sunlight. Hopefully we'll get something out of them.

New Home Office

After a few weeks of shopping in and around Portland, we finally landed some nice office furniture at a reasonable price.  City Liquidators turns out to be the place for furniture (and other things ranging from tampons to sofas).  Next up, we'll be painting the room.

Moto Droid

I switched to Verizon and got the Droid phone this weekend. I am writing from it. So far it's great. That's all...

Rockets at Trailblazers

On December 5th, we attended the Houston Rockets @ Portland Trailblazers game.  We sat way up in the 300 section, but we had mid-court aisle seats which turned out to be quite nice.  Portland won the game - and they have won all 3 games we've been to (against tough opponents).  I think we bring good luck... for wins.  Unfortunately, we were witness to the season ending injury of Greg Oden.  It was bad.  The entire arena went silent.  The Rockets showed class by giving him a pat on the back and some nice words before they wheeled him out on the stretcher.  The city of Portland is saddened by this, as we have all come to really like Greg as a player and a person.

Birthday and Other Events

For my birthday, I went to Rogue (as I have done for the past 7 years in a row) and got a free beer and t-shirt.  Bren and I took the next day off of work and had a delicious meal at Salvador Molly's and took a hike around Gabriel Park.  It was a fantastic birthday.  Now that I'm in my "late 30s...", I may choose to do something different next year.  We'll see.

New Couch

New Couch

We got our new couch from JCPenney last weekend.  We weren't expecting it until mid-December because we had custom fabric put on it.  We're glad to have it for Thanksgiving because we're having company over for food and games.  I think the red (berry) fabric was a good choice, as it adds some color to the room and it matches the chair we recently purchased.  The rug is new as well.

cleverswine.net is new

cleverswine.net has been updated.  It's something I'm messing around with, along the lines of a "lifestream".  I don't like to call it that, however, because it's not my "life".  It's really just a summary of my online activity.
