PDX Downtown

I had a brilliant idea. Since I work in downtown Portland, and frequently take walks around the city, I thought I'd take photos of interesting things and post them here. I was going to start today during lunch, but it's way too friggin' cold out there. I had to speed walk back to the heated office. I did get a decent shot of the parking garage that I park in. Woo hoo.

Happy New Year!

In order to have a fruitful 2008, we ate the obligatory black-eyed peas and cabbage today. It was downright delicious.

Christmas

We had a fine Christmas eve and Christmas day. For Christmas eve, we joined Lori, her family, and friends for dinner and presents. Christmas day was spent at home with Sly (who got new toys and some turkey). We opened presents and cooked. I got some killer loot in my stocking:

A Bird at my Office

This seagull has been sitting outside of my office for an hour. He is screeching like he wants to be fed... Unfortunately, there is glass between us.

Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving. We are thankful for this delicious turkey breast, and someone is thankful for me.

Viva Las Vegas

We had a great time in Las Vegas 2 weekends ago. We gambled and toured the hotels. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted all of the photos that I took. Doug gave me a couple from his camera, and they are on my flickr page.

Newest Project

Our latest outdoor project has been to rip up our stepping stone and moss path and replace it with stepping stones and gravel. The weeds became too much to handle when combined with the rest of the yard work, plus the moss was growing over the stepping stones. The job is complete now, but here's

a photo in progress:

Lost Lake

We spent the weekend camping at Lost Lake. First, we stopped by the Bonneville Dam Fish Hatchery to check out some giant sturgeon. Then, we got lost on the way to Lost Lake. We were on a gravel road somewhere on the mountain for almost two hours. We finally re-found civilization and made our way to the campground. The weather was decent, but chilly and cloudy. We did some hiking and stuff. Sunday morning greeted us with rain, so we packed up and headed home.

Blackberry Hunting

Yesterday we took a bike ride down the Springwater Trail in search of blackberries. Unfortunately it's the end of the season and most of the reachable berries had been picked over. We ended up getting a small bowl full, which we intend to put on cheesecake.
