Some Weekend Fun
Check out many photos from the family visit to PDX. They are on my flickr page.
I've been on call all weekend - no fun. This weekend, however, I'm going to see the Round Rock Express vs. Portland Beavers (baseball) at PGE Park.
A Ruby Project (finally)
I have finally published some Ruby code that I've been playing around with. It's nothing big, but I'm still learning. See the ruby [on rails] page.
Hometown Tourism
We had a delightful time last weekend with my parents and aunt and uncle. Our activities included: Multnomah Falls, Mt. Hood, Vista House, Mt. St. Helens, Japanese Garden, Council Crest, Saturday Market, and the Farmer's Market. Photos coming real soon...
VNC on the PDA
I was able to VNC (Virtual Network Computing) from my PDA, running linux, to my Windows 2000 server. It's very cool.

Kohl’s
Kohl's had a grand opening sale today in Gresham. I've never been to a Kohl's before and now I know where I'll be buying most of my clothing. Their stuff is insanely cheap, and high quality (brand names). Today, I bought 15 pairs of black socks for about $18 total! I'll be disposing of my current inventory of socks and I'll never have to match them up again - because my 15 pairs are all exactly the same! This idea was inspired by GTD (Getting Things Done) on 43 Folders. I can't find the original article, but the site is full of useful information to simplify day to day things (such as pairing up socks).
New PDA
I bought a new linux-based PDA last week. This one is the Sharp SL-C1000. It has a 640x480 screen and a full qwerty keyboard. It's basically a tiny laptop.

We will be going to the Bucket Brigade Cafe & Ale House (pictured above) this evening to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
Anti-pattern
This is an interesting read about anti-patterns as they apply to programming and other facets of IT.
March Snow
It snowed again last night. We thought Spring was around the corner, but it's not quite here yet. KATU News
This isn't weather-related, but some friends of a friend got a cool write-up in this week's Willamette Week. Jackmove. Read it here.
